We celebrate as many days as possible at Catered Cottage - that includes your Birthday or Anniversary, Christmas, New Year, Valentine's Day etc - if you want to celebrate a particular event please ask & we will see what we can do. 

Below is a list of events we celebrate & could be the inspiration you need to put some dates in your diary.  Some celebrations listed have a link to give you more of an idea of what you can expect. We generally extend the celebrations to the nearest weekend so you don't have to miss out!

3 day Christmas Break

- 24th, 25th & 26th December

 Between Christmas & New Year

- 27th, 28th, 29th December

Its a great time to get away with your immediate family or close friends - you can still have Christmas lunch & all the trimmings! Follow link above or below for further details. 

New Year

30th, 31st, 1st/2nd December/Jan

Take 3 or 4 day to see in the New Year or Hogmanay - its a great time to be in the country. We celebrate with small game & wonderful desserts - or maybe you have a family tradition you can tell us about!

 

Burns Night 

"Opera is where a guy gets stabbed in the back, and instead of dying, he sings". Robert Burns

A great time to catch up with friends if  it wasn't possible over the Christmas holiday. Burns Night falls on a Monday so if you prefer the Special Burns Night Supper - includes Haggis from Scotland & dessert laced with whisky - will be served on the Saturday or Sunday. 

 

Valentine's Day 

 Valentine's break 

14th Feb

Soufflés, eggs, cakes & cookies are all heart shaped & there are candles on the table at supper to create a romantic atmosphere. 

*Shrove Tuesday

 

Its turned out to be a "pancakes all week" celebration at Catered Cottage - lemon & sugar, honey & lemon, homemade jams, or maple syrup - your pancakes will be cooked to perfection.

*Veggie Month

- throughout March

Throughout this month Vegetarians are invited to celebrate the vegetable - a special effort is made to produce vegetarian meals sometimes with a twist! If your friends eat meat don't leave them behind, we will ensure that have something to celebrate too!

*Mother's Day

Mother's Day Break 

 

Give your Mother a real treat take her away from the kitchen & bring her to Catered Cottage for the weekend. Here she can relax & enjoy being with the family - let the Chef cook the family favourite's! 

*St Patrick's Day 

 

St Patrick's Day  - you can move your celebration menu of Irish potato cakes, Irish beef stew, Irish Whiskey cream cheesecake & fruitcake soaked in Guiness to the weekend.

Easter Weekend

Good Friday and Saturday, leave after breakfast on Monday - 2 days of Easter treats - Hot Cross Buns, Simnel cake & Spring Lamb. Lots of attractions in Derbyshire open for the Easter Break so there will be loads to do. 

 

Easter Weekend

Easter Sunday & Monday -  2 days of Easter treats - Simnel Cake, Spring Lamb & we will organize an Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday! Lots of attractions in Derbyshire open for the Easter Break so there will be loads to do.

Fathers Day

 

 

Give your Father a real treat you can share & bring him to Catered Cottage for the weekend. Walking is at its peak this time of year - he can relax & enjoy being with the family. 

*Independence Day 2010

Make a weekend of celebrating all things American - the barbecued steak, great salads, muffins, & of course Moms Apple pie!

*Bastille Day 2010

- 14th July 

A couple of days of French food is a wonderful way to help the French celebrate Bastille Day - even if you have move it to the weekend! 

Summer Bank Holiday 2010

 

*Labor Day 2009

 

Labor Day, a break for workers, falls on a Monday. Another part of this holiday is  Mexico's contribution which is the celebration of the Chili - turn it into a weekend & have a seriously hot time!

*Michaelmas Day/Harvest

Michaelmas break around 3rd October

 

Michaelmas Day is sometimes called Goose Day. Goose Fairs are still held in some English towns, but geese are no longer sold. A famous Michaelmas fair is the Nottingham Goose Fair is held on or around 3 October. Include Michealmas in a weekend at Catered Cottage.

* Guy Fawkes Weekend 2010

- 5th November

The 5th falls on a Friday this year so most of the large bonfires take place on the 6th  We will cook jacket potatoes & toffee & advise on where the best bonfire will be over the weekend.

*Halloween Break 2010

 31st October - Pumpkin Pie is on the menu & Jack O'Lantern on the table - Halloween falls on a Sunday this year & so Autumn treats are spread over the weekend.

 

*Thanksgiving 2009

 

Thanksgiving is on Thursday & is celebrated with  turkey, sweet potatoes & pumpkin pie.  Make a weekend of it & enjoy the best of American autumn favorites.

*St Andrews Day 2009

 

Make it a great weekend or midweek break as it falls on a Tuesday & celebrate with some fabulous Scots food
